This latest post is just a handful of snaps of wildlife seen on our expedition to Transylvania in the Carpathian Mountains. A lot of the wildlife we saw on the trip was from a distance and a lot harder to spot. A lot of the species we came to see were spotted but never caught on our DSLR's. Despite this we did manage to pick species such as Badger, Fox, Wild Boar and Brown Bear on the camera traps we took on the trip. I'll post these videos at a later date a long with others. For now here is some wildlife at least!
Long Eared Owl, (Chick)
The Long Eared Owl was actually spotted at Belgrade airport, either way it was wildlife seen on the expedition.
This is just a short post with a few landscape photo's from our Expedition to Romania. Most of these are mountain shots of the beautiful Carpathians. Keep watching this space for more posts from the trip and the work we did over there.
This is my first post after the 20 day expedition to the Carpathian Mountains in Romania. The Carpathians are renowned for their populations of large mammals such as the Brown Bear, Wolf, Wild Boar and Carpathian Red Deer. For my first post I thought I'd start off by introducing some of the Carpathians smaller inhabitants, the amphibians and reptiles which are easily over looked. Throughout the expedition we frequently came across Yellow Bellied Toads, Sand Lizards, Common Lizards, Newts and the iconic Fire Salamander. Here are a few images of the species we encountered, all of which display beautiful patterns and colours.
After months of planning our expedition has finally arrived. A group of 5 of us, (Paul Mitchell, Daniel Sencier, Ryan Deal and Ashley Howe) are heading toward the Carpathian Mountains in Romania to film and work with the TWP, (Transylvania Wildlife Project). We are leaving Brampton Road, Carlisle, (University of Cumbria) at 11 this very morning. Currently I'm packing the last of my stuff and checking I have all the equipment I need for the trip. I'll be updating this blog as often as I can throughout the course of the exped so you can tune in and see what we're up to. For more information on the expedition visit our team members blog, http://danielsencier.blogspot.co.uk/ or our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Expedition-Romania/259790044063088?ref=ts
Once again, thanks to all that have helped support the expedition through the planning stages and donated so generously - It would never have been possible without you.
Here are a few images from the past week I've spent in Cornwall. Most of them are tree related HDR's from a local woodland near St Ives called Steeple Woods, there is also the tail end of an Adder from the Sand Dunes near God Revy.
On Saturday me and my friend Stu took a trip down to the Lake District to walk up Blencathra, to experience the wintery scenery. The conditions were extremely foggy, with lots of mist and cool winds. It was nice to see plenty of snow up the top but visibility and lighting weren't great for photography. I managed to play around with a few HDR's and as usual captured a time lapse of other mountain goers walking "sharp edge" in the mist; they appear very ant like due to the distance but the video captures the weather conditions on the day!
